Ron DeSantis drops out of presidential race and backs Trump
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has exited the 2024 presidential race and has thrown his support behind former president Donald Trump.
He withdrew before the New Hampshire Republican primary, where his popularity was low.
Despite once being a strong contender, DeSantis said on Sunday that he couldn’t see a clear path to victory.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Nikki Haley, Trump’s remaining challenger, claims she’s the sole candidate who can defeat President Joe Biden.
Haley will compete against Trump in New Hampshire on Tuesday, part of the ongoing process to select a Republican nominee for the November general election.
He decided to endorse Trump, who is the clear frontrunner after winning the first contest in Iowa with 51% of the vote because it was clear a majority of Republican voters “want to give Donald Trump another chance”.
He acknowledged “disagreements” with Trump but said the former president was “superior” to Biden – who’s almost certainly going to be the Democratic nomination.
