In North Carolina ‘The Fury 325 rollercoaster’ that had a crack on its pillar has reopened after inspection from health and safety officals.

A rollercoaster that was shut down after a visitor noticed a massive crack bending as riders whizzed by has been reopened.

The Fury 325 giga rollercoaster at the Carowinds amusement park in Charlotte resumed operations after clearing a final inspection by state authorities.

‘Carowinds today announced that Fury 325 has reopened following the completion of the repair and testing process, and a final inspection by the North Carolina Department of Labor’s Elevator and Amusement Device Bureau,’ a Carowinds spokesperson told Fox News on Thursday.

‘The return to operation marks the end of a comprehensive plan dedicated to ensuring the safety and operational readiness of the coaster.’

Fury 325 made headlines earlier this summer when Jeremy Wagner, a father who was visiting the amusement park with his daughter, son, niece and son’s friend, saw a crack on the pillar of the ride.

Wagner recorded video as a car full of riders flew past, and the cracked pillar wobbled.

The ride was shuttered on June 30. In mid-July, North Carolina Department of Labor Commissioner Josh Dobson said the crack had been observed about a week before park officials stopped the ride.

‘It looks like maybe six to 10 days prior, some pictures had been taken that shows the beginning of the crack, and then by obviously last Friday, the thing was completely severed,’ Dobson told Fox News Digital at the time.

The Fury 325 underwent weeks of tests. Its manufacturer produced a new steel support beam and it was installed. Additionally, the ride ran for ‘500+ full cycles, performing tests and inspections to ensure the ride’s integrity throughout that period’, according to officials.

Carowinds’ website calls the Fury 325 ‘the tallest, fastest, longest giga coaster in North America’.
