Robert Pattinson slept on inflatable boat for six months

A lone mattress on the floor is nothing compared to Robert Pattinson’s emergency bed set up, using an inflatable boat to sleep on.

The Twilight star’s bedroom decor wasn’t the whim of an eccentric actor but out of necessity as he had no furniture in his new apartment.

It’s hard to believe that a Hollywood heavy hitter like Robert, who is now loved up with Suki Waterhouse, could have ever been unable to furnish his home.

He now lives in the Hollywood Hills in a luxury pad worth $7.65 million which he purchased earlier this year, featuring three bedrooms and spans 2,725 square feet.

It’s not clear whether this was before or after his stratospheric rise to fame but Robert, 37, spent six months using the boat as both a bed and dining room table.

In a new interview with Architectural Digest, The Batman actor was asked about his least favourite couch that he had ever owned.

‘My least favourite could also be my most favourite,’ he quipped. ‘There was a time when the only piece of furniture I had for about six months was an inflatable boat that would double as my couch, bed, and dining table.’

Despite being his ‘least favourite’, Robert shared that he loved the boat ‘very much’ although admitted it caused him ‘a lot of back problems’.

Robert is branching out from acting in an unconventional route, although that’s hardly surprising for star who likes to keep fans on their toes.

After filming wrapped on last year’s The Batman, which earned him critical acclaim as Bruce Wayne, he began doodling furniture.

This led to him designing his first sofa alongside fellow designer Nicole Gordon, who helped decorate two of his homes.

He continued: ‘I started sketching pieces of furniture I thought would make people interact in a playful and informal ways. They all had disproportionate, oversized elements that were quite fun.

‘And in the process of making some models out of clay, I found that organic overlapping curves had a similar effect.’

Robert’s sofa is on display at antique furniture store JF Chen in Los Angeles, reports Entertainment Weekly, which is selling a limited edition of made-to-order pieces.

This isn’t his first time turning his hand to art as he curated a high-end contemporary art auction in New York last year, describing the opportunity as ‘a fascinating and fun experience’.
