Robert De Niro’s daughter has made claims about how her son died.
The Goodfellas actor’s eldest daughter Drena De Niro confirmed the tragic death of Leandro De Niro Rodriguez at the age of 19 with a statement on social media on Monday (July 3).
Paying tribute to Rodriguez on Instagram, she wrote: ‘My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly.
‘You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you.
‘I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama.
‘You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you.
‘I’m so sorry my baby. Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.’
Rodriguez’s cause of death is yet to be properly confirmed, however, his mother has said that he died after taking pills that were laced with fentanyl.
Responding to a comment asking how her son died, she wrote on Instagram: ‘Someone sold him fentanyl-laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him.’
Drena, 51, added: ‘For all these people still f***ing around selling and buying this s**t, my son is gone forever.’
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine.
It is a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the US.
More to come.
