Robbie Williams fans forced to sleep in their cars after chaos trying to leave his Australia gig

Robbie Williams fans in Australia faced a torrid time getting home from his concert on Thursday night, with some forced to sleep in their cars due to heavy traffic.

The British singer and songwriter, 49, is currently in the middle of the Aussie leg of his XXV tour, which has now been running worldwide for over a year.

However, the most recent show was marred by problems as spectators were made to walk over a mile to the concert venue, missing all three support acts.

Some even missed the start of Robbie’s show, and then ran into the same traffic control issues on their way home – the car park at the Nikola Estate venue was still rammed at 1.40am according to social media posts.

On Thursday night, many disgruntled fans of the Let Me Entertain You singer expressed their frustration with the Western Australia venue on social media.

‘The Robbie Williams concert better be good as so far it has taken us over two hours to drive to Nikola Estate … still not close to getting in,’ one said.

‘Great job Nikola Estate. Been in the car since 11.00 leaving Robbie Williams, now 12.43 and nobody has moved… Literally nobody,’ another person commented.

‘Robbie Williams concert was good. 2-3/4 hours to get out of Nikola Estate was s**t. 1.45am we got out!’ one angry concert-goer reported.

Local reporters in Perth have claimed that some attendees ‘simply gave up’ and decided to camp out in their cars overnight.

Those reports were backed up on social media: ‘Traffic at a standstill, people asleep in cars. No direction, nobody knows how to exit. We will be here until 5am at this rate!’

The event planners, Mellen Events, later shared a statement on Facebook, apologising for the gridlocked traffic and for any inconvenience fans suffered.

‘Regarding the traffic issues experienced at last night’s Robbie Williams concert, we share your disappointment and frustration.’

The statement continued: ‘We are currently working with the venue and the venue’s traffic management team to mitigate this for tonight’s show.’

With another gig planned at the same venue tonight, Robbie enthusiasts have been looking at live traffic maps of the surrounding area to see if the same problems have arisen.

Robbie’s Australia tour was sadly struck by tragedy in Sydney last month, after it was revealed a fan had died during one of his shows after falling down some stairs.

The Millennium hitmaker paid tribute to a 70-year-old fan Robyn Hall, who was initially taken to hospital but later died of her injuries.

Robbie told his audience in Melbourne: ‘When something happens like this it breaks my heart. I’ve been thinking about it an awful lot, and I thought about it all the way through the show tonight.’
