It looks like musical prowess could run in Robbie Williams’ family, the new trailer for his upcoming Netflix documentary has revealed.

For decades, fans across the globe have watched the singer’s life unfold with fascination, from his early days with Take That to his burgeoning solo career.

While Robbie, 49, achieved incredible levels of success, he also felt plagued by the spotlight, explaining in a new trailer for his four-part docu-series that he suffered a ‘nervous mental breakdown in front of thousands of people’.

Amid the darkness that the musician has experienced in his life, there has also been light, with the Millennium singer marrying his wife, Ayda Field, in 2010.

The couple have four children together, with the latest trailer for the documentary revealing snippets of what their family life is like behind closed doors.

At the very end of the trailer, Robbie watches in what looks like pure astonishment as his daughter sings one of his most iconic songs: Angels.

‘She won’t forsake me,’ his daughter sings, as Robbie stares in awe.

He begins to sing along with her, as she then belts out: ‘I’m loving angels instead,’ sparking applause from her parents.

The documentary trailer features a variety of clips spanning Robbie’s life and career, as he states in a voiceover: ‘It’s astounding what’s happened in my life. But the past has me in a headlock. Something has to give.’

The musician recollected the ‘insane’ experience of joining Take That at 16, before he became the ‘centre of the pop culture world’, earning an adoring fanbase around the globe.

Robbie is described in an old clip of Jonathan Ross as being one of the world’s greatest showman, as crowds of fans stand waiting for him below his window in archival footage.

‘Do you ever wish you had a normal life?’ he’s asked, to which he responds: ‘This is a normal life.’

However, there reached a point where Robbie felt as though he was ‘giving more and more’ of himself away, ‘to the point that you’re not somebody you recognise’.

He felt as though he couldn’t trust anybody being in his position in the limelight, and ended up suffering extreme mental hardship when he had a ‘breakdown’.

Nonetheless, the star also felt conflicted about the role fame had to play in his life.

‘The thing that would destroy me has also made me successful,’ he says. ‘Touch the fire. Push when it says pull. And see if I can live.’

In a very tender moment of the trailer, Robbie is cuddling and kissing one of his children, who he asks: ‘Who loves you?’

The toddler adorably answers: ‘Mummy,’ as Ayda cheers.

The documentary will certainly prove to be a raw and eye-opening watch, shortly after Netflix’s release of the highly popular Beckham docu-series.

The Robbie Williams documentary is launching on Wednesday November 8 on Netflix.
