Rishi Sunak unveils £1,000,000,000 support package for firms hit by Omicron

The Metro says Businesses affected by the Omicron wave of Covid are being offered grants of up to £6,000 to help them get through the crisis.

Rishi Sunak has unveiled a £1 billion support package for companies affected by new restrictions after profits nose-dived as people cancelled social activities.

Pubs, restaurants and theatres have all been hit hard because people are staying home before Christmas amid a ‘staggeringly’ high rise in cases.

There are also fears the industries will be affected by staff shortages due to the number of people having to self-isolate having caught Covid in December.
