Rishi Sunak pushes Boris Johnson for tighter controls on spending as £4bn bill for state pension hike looms
The i says Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak face increasing tensions as the Chancellor pushes for greater fiscal discipline while the Prime Minister seeks to make futher spending pledges to maintain the Conservatives’ momentum in the polls.
Mr Sunak has refused to commit to a £4bn increase in the state pension and is also reported to be challenging a number of other plans to increase public spending being proposed by Mr Johnson.
