Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has allayed fears that Richarlison will miss the World Cup and says the forward’s injury will not prevent him from being named in Brazil’s squad.

The former Everton striker limped out of Spurs’ 2-0 win against the Toffees on Sunday with a calf injury.

Richarlison left the stadium on crutches after giving a teary-eyed interview in which he clearly feared for his spot in Qatar.

The Brazilian has been leading the line for his country in recent months, ahead of rival Gabriel Jesus.

But Conte has played down fears that Richarlison will miss the World Cup and says the striker will be fit to be named in Brazil’s World Cup.

‘He is having a scan, an MRI and then we’ll see how long he needs to recover,’ said Conte.

‘For sure though, against Manchester United he is not available.’

On the prospect of him missing out on a World Cup place, he said: ‘No, absolutely not. I can confirm this.

‘The player is not risking to miss the World Cup. Absolutely not.’

Dejan Kulusevski has missed Spurs’ last four fixtures with a hamstring injury and he was absent from the squad for Sunday’s win against Everton after suffering a setback.

Conte was unable to confirm if the Swede would be fit to face United at Old Trafford on Wednesday but says he hopes to have him fit ‘very soon’.

‘Kulusevski is working and we are going day by day with him,’ said Conte.

‘I don’t know about the game against Manchester United, the doctors are working with him.

‘It’s the same injury [hamstring]. The medical department are working to recover him but at the same time there are situations that you have to go a bit slowly and not accelerate the process.

‘Sometimes if you do that you worsen the situation. We hope to have him in the squad very soon.’
