Mikel Arteta has upset one of the players in his squad, feels Ray Parlour (Picture: Getty)
Ray Parlour says there is one player in the Arsenal dressing room who will be left ‘very frustrated’ by Mikel Arteta’s decision to drop him this season.
The north Londoners crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, with manager Arteta handing starts to a number of stars who are usually benched.
One such player was goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who has lost his spot in the XI to David Raya this term, but he was unable to keep a clean sheet in a 3-1 defeat.
Arsenal legend Parlour thinks the England international will be furious that he has lost his No.1 spot at the Emirates.
‘Aaron Ramsdale started against West Ham but I don’t think Mikel Arteta will pick him against Newcastle, he’ll stick with David Raya,’ Parlour told bettingsites.co.uk.
‘Aaron will be very frustrated. He’s been really good since he’s been at the club, he’s a big personality in the dressing room, which is important.
‘I don’t like the situation but I’m not Mikel Arteta. I don’t know what goes on in training or behind the scenes and that’s a big decision he’s had to make in sticking with Raya.

‘But you’ve got to be ruthless in management. Pep Guardiola always has been in his career and I’m sure Mikel would have picked up some of that from him.’
Meanwhile, Parlour has urged Arsenal to go and sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the January transfer window.
‘Despite his lack of game time, I’d still like to see Arsenal sign Ivan Toney in January,’ Parlour added. ‘He would be my pick. He works hard, he always wants the ball and holds the ball up well, he is always in the right positions and he scores goals.’
