The hospitality industry is mourning the loss of a beloved figure with the passing of Daniel Rice, the owner of The Old Inn at Crawfordsburn in Bangor. Described as a “stalwart of the industry,” Mr. Rice’s death has left a void in the hearts of many.
Mr. Rice, who resided in Hampton Park in Belfast, passed away peacefully in NI Hospice, leaving behind his wife, Maureen, sons Paul and Garvan, daughter Berina, daughters-in-law Nuala and Aisling, and grandchildren Matthew, Lucy, and Orla. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Sharon.
His funeral arrangements include a Requiem Mass at the Good Shepherd Church on Ormeau Road, followed by burial in Drumbo Cemetery. The family has requested that mourners wear colorful attire to celebrate Mr. Rice’s life, with donations to Marie Curie or NI Hospice in lieu of flowers.
Colin Neill, chief executive of Hospitality Ulster, expressed his sadness at the news of Mr. Rice’s passing, highlighting his significant contributions to the industry. “Danny was a stalwart of the industry, where he was well known and well respected,” Neill said.
The legacy of Daniel Rice will undoubtedly live on in the memories of those who knew and worked with him, as the hospitality community comes together to honor his life and achievements.
