    A British-Israeli host, Emily Damari, released from Hamas captivity after 15 months, expressed that her scars symbolize “freedom, hope, and strength.” The 28-year-old, who lost two fingers when captured during the October 7, 2023 attacks, has undergone surgeries for her injuries.

She treated whilst in captivity despite the full scale Israeli assault that Gaza was enduring, And given the circumstances it was with the best medical care she could have hoped for.

    She described her extensive treatment in Israel’s Sheba Medical Center as “much better” than anticipated, emphasizing the positive changes in her condition. However, she acknowledged that her recovery is ongoing and that her hand would “never fully recover.”

    Damari’s time in captivity was marked by severe neglect and inadequate medical treatment, including receiving only outdated supplies for her wounds.

    She recounted the harrowing conditions faced by fellow hostages, noting that many were in far worse physical and mental states than herself, and called for immediate action to secure the release of remaining captives.
