Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet wished their grandfather King Charles a very happy 75th birthday via a pre-recorded video message, the Daily Express understands.
The four and two-year-old sent the sweet message across the pond for the King’s special day, according to a well-placed source, where they sung happy birthday to him. This is despite the youngsters having met their paternal grandfather on only a handful of occassions.
Archie was only eight-months-old when his parents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down as senior working members of the Royal Family and relocate to North America at the start of 2020. Lilibet was born over a year later, on June 4, 2021.
The family-of-four returned to the UK for the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022 and the children have not stepped foot on British soil since.
It comes after the Express revealed that Prince Harry may have been unable to phone the King to send his own wellwishes yesterday.
The BBC reported earlier this week that Prince Harry would make a call to his father King Charles on his birthday.
A well-placed source reveals that the story originally came from people linked to the Sussex camp in an attempt to mop up the fallout from not being invited to the King’s 75th birthday celebrations. The source stresses that there was originally no call scheduled in the King’s diary yesterday.
“News of a phone call came as a surprise. Let’s just say that,” the source said. “There might have been a willingness there for the Sussexes to call the King on his birthday, but it certainly wasn’t communicated to the other side in a timely fashion.”
The King was extremely busy during his birthday celebrations yesterday and sources say that there was no possible moment for the alleged call to take place.
“The King certainly didn’t take the call during the day while he was busy working,” the source said. “The evening was spent with his family and friends and he didn’t have a private moment all evening.”
The King spent his birthday helping to launch a project to help people face food poverty which was quickly followed by a lavish reception at Clarence House where he was joined by senior members of the royal family to help him celebrate his birthday.
