Gary Anderson was granted temporary release from Maghaberry Prison to attend his father’s funeral before he absconded on Monday. He was previously sentenced to 15 years for the murder of Karol Kelly, who was fatally stabbed in Londonderry in March 2018.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has issued a renewed appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of Gary Anderson, who failed to return to prison after being granted temporary leave. The public has been advised not to approach him as the PSNI continues to coordinate with Garda in their efforts to apprehend him.
What remains unclear — Police have not disclosed whether any leads have emerged in the search for Gary Anderson.

Anderson, 29, and his brother, Sean Anderson, were sentenced in 2023 to 15 years for the murder of Karol Kelly in Londonderry.
