PMQs Live: What time is PMQs today? Liz Truss returns after U-turn chaos

PM Liz Truss will face MPs on Wednesday at noon for her first PMQs since Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini-budget caused chaos in the financial markets.

MPs are back in action after a break for the party conferences. It’s been a tough time for the Tory party recently from a disastrous mini-budget, a U-turn and tanking ratings in the opinion polls.

Truss is set to face some really tough questions over the economic crisis.

    What time is PMQs today?

PMQs will start at its usual time of midday, with the session lasting for about half an hour.

How can I watch PMQs live?

You’ll be able to watch all the action via a live stream on this page.

PMQs is also broadcast live on the UK Parliament YouTube channel.

What should we expect at this week’s PMQs?

PM Truss will be expected to explain the mini-budget and the efforts to manage the consequences of the fallout.

Tuesday saw the pound fall again after the Bank of England announced the emergency support scheme to protect pension funds would end on Friday.

Earlier – the Bank had been forced to intervene for a second time in as many days to buy up Government bonds. The Bank warned of a “material risk to UK financial stability” with “fire sales” of assets.

The Banks governor Andrew Bailey said there will be no more support beyond Friday and it was up to the funds concerned to rebalance their holdings.

PM Truss will address Tory MPs at Westminster after PMQs – she will promise to bring smaller groups of backbenchers into No 10 on a regular basis to discuss their concerns.
