PM Rishi Sunak condemns ‘horrific terrorism’ as he meets leaders in Israel
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been meeting Israeli leaders in Tel Aviv and is holding a press conference with Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu.
Sunak condemned the “horrific act of terrorism” by Hamas on 7 October, and said the UK stands with Israel.
Israel’s military says it hit hundreds of sites in Gaza over the past 24 hours, targeting “Hamas infrastructure.” The area remains under siege with Israel blocking cross-border supplies of water, electricity and fuel.
But the US and Egypt say lorries providing aid will start crossing from Egypt into Gaza on Friday.
Joe Biden has arrived back in the US after a brief visit to Israel. He was supposed to meet with Arab leaders but following the blast at a hospital, the meeting was cancelled.
His visit was overshadowed by the blast, which locals say killed 471 people and was caused by Israel.
But Israel say the death toll is likely a lot less and say Hamas are to blame. They claim the blast was caused by a misfired rocket from Gaza.
