    Paralympics 2020: Excitement sweeps through camp in Covid-hit Tokyo as athletes prepare for crowd-free Games

    The i says anticipation and excitement has swept through ParalympicsGB’s camp as athletes prepare to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, which opens on Tuesday.

    Taking place in the shadow of coronavirus and without cheering spectators, 227 athletes across 19 of 22 Paralympic sports are eager to launch a gold rush, defend and claim titles and set a new medal record.

    Five years ago in Rio, Paralympians from the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team won 147 medals including 64 golds.
