Paddy McGuinness has offered his theory as to why teenager Luke Littler just missed out on winning the World Darts Championship.
The 16-year-old has become an overnight sporting sensation, beating former world champions in a remarkable run to reach the final in what was his first ever appearance in the competition.
However overnight he was beaten in the final by Luke Humphries, who sealed a 7-4 victory at Alexandra Palace.
The next morning, the sports star revealed his mind had gone blank just before missing a crucial dart, but that he was going to take all the experience he gained during the event going forward.
However now former Top Gear presenter Paddy, 50, has weighed in on why he thinks Luke stumbled at the final hurdle.
Posting a video on social media soon after the event, the presenter dished out his thoughts.

‘I am sweating, I absolutely loved the darts but gutted for Littler, gutted for the lad, but Humphries he was monstrous over those last few legs, he turned the screws and deserves to win the championship but Littler will be back next year,’ he began.
‘Littler, I’ve got to be honest, I’m blaming those cheerleaders at the top, who thought it was a good idea to roll out a troop of cheerleaders while there was a sixteen-year-old lad on stage?
‘He was never going to be able to concentrate.’
He added: ‘If he’s back next year I’m getting him a set of blinkers. Anyhow, well done Humphries.’

Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard asked Luke about his pre-game ritual.
‘I woke up at 12,’ he admitted.
‘I had scrambled eggs and beans on toast for dinner. Got the venue, signed everyone in, got the wristbands on. I had my margherita pizza, throw for half an hour, 45 minutes, play a bit of Football Manager and then back on the board. I can’t wait to go back on my Xbox!’
When asked why he didn’t bring his Xbox down to London for the competition, he added: ‘I didn’t expect to get to the final!’
