Cher will be in the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom for the BBC’s glitzy final.

Sadly, she’s not making a last-minute attempt to lift the glitterball with a Cha-cha-cha, but instead, the 77-year-old will be the star performer.

Cher is thought to be belting out DJ Play A Christmas Song from her festive album, which is just what Britain needs to get us all in the festive mood.

Maybe after Cher has put down her microphone BBC bosses could try to convince her to pop on a pair of Latin heels, and shimmy with Giovanni Pernice, for the 2024 series.

For now, we’re more than happy with the joyful news that she will be singing. We truly believe she’ll be incredible, so we’ll all be turning back time and watching it on iPlayer again and again.

On the special episode on December 16, either Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell, Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe, or Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin will become the 2023 champions. However, only three pairs will be performing in the grand finale as one more couple will be voted out on this Saturday’s episode.

The remaining four couples didn’t have to face a public vote to make it through to the semi-finals as Nigel Harman was forced to bow out of the competition with partner Katya Jones due to injury.

The 50-year-old actor hurt his ribs while rehearsing a Charleston. However, it won’t be the last we’ve seen of him as Nigel will be back at the final, the BBC confirmed. Who wouldn’t grab the opportunity to see Cher with both hands?

Traditionally, all the couples who didn’t make the final perform a big group routine together to celebrate their time in the series, and this year is no different. It is unknown if Nigel will be well enough to perform or will instead be cheering on from the sidelines.

Amanda Abbington also withdrew from the competition after just four routines, and cited ‘personal reasons.’

California-based Cher has been a regular face on British shows as she promotes her Christmas song – hence the Strictly signing.

As well as taking a seat on Graham Norton’s couch, she unexpectedly found herself on a date in a chicken shop for Amelia Dimoldenberg’s popular YouTube series.

Being Cher, she of course delivered some pretty iconic lines that have been doing the rounds on social media.

Perhaps, most memorably, when asked why she hasn’t had her heartbroken much, she replied: ‘I’m cute.’

Cher, please stay in the UK forever.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 7.35pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
