Novak Djokovic faces French Open ban as Emmanuel Macron comes down hard on anti-vaxxers
The Daily Express says Novak Djokovic could be deported from Australia on Monday if the courts rule against him and the Serbian’s season may be about to take another turn for the worse. Djokovic is looking to clinch Grand Slam number 21 in Melbourne, which would take him clear of the record he shares with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
However, the world No 1 was refused entry at the Australian border after a visa mix-up over his Covid status and he was told to leave the country.
Djokovic’s camp are challenging the ruling in court on Monday and have secured an injunction to ensure the 34-year-old can remain Down Under until his future is decided.
If Djokovic is to be kicked out of Australia then his attention will turn to Paris, the next Grand Slam of the season. But new rules in France requires all sportspeople to be vaccinated against coronavirus.
