No trans under-17s referred for hormone treatment in the last nine months after gender clinic approval
The i says not a single person under the age of 17 seeking treatment from a hormone specialist through England’s NHS trans youth service from December last year has been referred, i can reveal.
No-one approved for treatment by the Gender and Identity Development Service during the last nine months has been given an appointment with an endocrinologist, who assess and approve puberty blockers and cross-hormones for patients aged up to 17.
In December last year, a High Court ruling prevented anyone under the age of 16 from getting such treatment, but the ruling was partially overturned in March, allowing them to access it with parental consent.
