NHS crisis saw patient ‘wait 24 hours in ambulance outside hospital’
Daily Mirror says a patient was forced to wait in an ambulance for 24 hours outside a hospital due to the on-going NHS crisis.
There has been a continual stream of harrowing stories of people waiting for many hours in excruciating pain for an ambulance with priority given to extreme emergencies when there are shortages.
The delay of 24 hours to be taken from the ambulance to the A&E is one of the worst examples to have happened in the past year and was revealed by the Health Service Journal.
The report did not name which hospital it was or the health authority.
According to NHS regulations, the handover from ambulance staff to the hospital should not take any longer than 15 minutes.
