More than 5m people in war-hit Tigray need emergency food aid
5.2 million people – 91 per cent of the population – in the war-hit Tigray region are in need of emergency food aid, the UN has warned.
The UN’s World Food Programme is appealing for more than $200m to scale up its response in the northern region, where seven months of fighting has caused an increase in already high hunger levels.
