Newcastle United have made an ambitious bid to sign Germany and Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.

The German, who is out of contract in 18 months’ time, has intimated he’s ready to leave the Allianz Arena for a new challenge.

The 28-year-old has spent the bulk of his career with Bayern, having joined the club from RB Leipzig in 2015.

Bayern want to keep Kimmich but they will not allow the German to run his contract down and want to avoid a repeat of the Toni Kroos saga that saw the midfielder join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Newcastle have been depleted by injuries this term and Sandro Tonali is serving long-term ban for betting offences.

According to Sport Bild, that’s seen the Magpies make a move for Kimmich.

But the midfielder is not interested in leaving Bayern this month and will instead leave a decision over his future until the end of the season.

It’s said Bayern are willing to negotiate with Newcastle for the midfielder, but Eddie Howe’s side are walking a Financial Fair Play tightrope.
