New CCTV shows Michael Mosley near where body found

CCTV footage appears to show TV presenter Dr Michael Mosley disappearing from view while descending a hillside near where his body was later found on the Greek island of Symi. Dr Mosley went missing four days earlier after setting off on a walk from Agios Nikolaos beach.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Monday on the neighbouring island of Rhodes. The coroner, who has arrived on Rhodes, is believed to have ruled out foul play but could not immediately determine if Dr Mosley had fallen due to the body’s condition.

Dr Mosley’s body was discovered on a hillside near the Agia Marina beach bar on Sunday. CCTV footage reportedly shows him descending a slope before disappearing behind a wall. The 67-year-old’s body was found after an extensive search by Greek authorities amid high temperatures.

Dr Mosley’s wife, Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, paid tribute to her “wonderful, funny, kind, and brilliant” husband. She mentioned that he had undertaken an “incredible climb” but took the wrong route and collapsed in a spot not easily visible to the search team.

Dr Mosley, a qualified doctor, had a distinguished career as a presenter, documentary maker, journalist, and author. He was known for TV programmes such as “Trust Me, I’m a Doctor” and the BBC Radio 4 podcast “Just One Thing.” He also wrote a column for the Daily Mail and was an advocate for intermittent fasting diets, including the 5:2 diet and The Fast 800 diet.

Greek authorities reported that Dr Mosley had been dead for several days before his body was discovered.
