The i says In May, the tennis champion Naomi Osaka – at present ranked the number two women’s player in the world – was at the centre of debate for refusing to do media assignments at the French Open. She won her first game in straight sets but didn’t hold a press conference, and was fined $15,000.
The subsequent controversy, sanctions, and threats led her to pull out of the tournament, posting on her Instagram page that the move was to protect her mental health. “I’m not a natural public speaker and get huge waves of anxiety before I speak to the world’s media”.
