A mum claims she found maggots ‘squirming’ in a McDonald’s ketchup dispenser as she ordered food for her children.

Corinne says the gruesome discovery took place in the chain’s Letchworth branch in Hertfordshire.

She had tried to top her children’s chicken nuggets with the tomato sauce available when she suddenly stopped in her tracks.

Corinne said: ‘I had placed my order and was waiting for it by the counter when I thought to get some ketchup for my son.

‘I went to use the pump and when I was picking up the pot I saw them moving.

‘There was another lady about to get some so I pointed it out to her; she just made a yuck face and left.’

In Corinne’s video, the creatures are seen squirming at the nozzle end of a dispenser.

But the mum claims they were visible crawling throughout the entire length of the tube.

The 36-year-old has vowed to never return to the branch following the incident, which McDonald’s said will be investigated.

A spokesperson said: ‘Food safety and hygiene is of the utmost importance to us.

‘We’re extremely disappointed to see that we have fallen short on this occasion.

‘Our condiment area and dispensers are checked for cleanliness on a daily basis, and when the matter was brought to the attention of our restaurant team we immediately took the dispensers out of action to be cleaned and sanitised.

‘We are conducting a thorough investigation to understand how the incident occurred on this occasion.’

It comes after an 11-year-old girl narrowly avoided a sprinkling of maggots on her lunch after a ‘disgusting’ swarm was discovered within a McDonald’s sauce dispenser.

Shocking video revealed the creepy crawlies swarming through the plastic container in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Mum Carly Ormerod had fled the store after spotting the insect ‘infestation’.
