Multiple people have been injured after shootings in the US state of Kentucky, authorities say.
Kentucky governor Andy Beshear said “we are aware of a series of incidents” in the city of Lexington involving one suspect.
A state trooper was shot at Blue Grass Airport in Fayette County on Sunday morning, the Lexington Herald-Leader local newspaper reports.
Mr Beshear said an “additional shooting” took place at the Richmond Road Baptist Church which resulted in “multiple injuries”.
“The trooper and others are being treated at a nearby hospital,” he added.
“Details are still emerging, and we will share more information as available.”
The extent of the injuries is not immediately known.
The suspect has been killed
State troopers and the Lexington Police Department had caught up with the suspect at the church following the shooting in Fayette County, according to Sky News’ US partner network NBC News.
Mr Beshear said: “Please pray for everyone affected by these senseless acts of violence, and let’s give thanks for the swift response by the Lexington Police Department and Kentucky State Police.”
State police said the suspect in the shootings is now dead.
The Blue Grass Airport posted on X at 1pm local time (6pm UK time) that a law enforcement investigation was impacting a portion of an airport road, but that all flights and operations were now proceeding normally.
