More than 1 million displaced due to Israeli attacks – Lebanon PM
Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati has reported that ongoing Israeli air strikes could have displaced as many as one million people across the country.
On Sunday, Lebanon’s health ministry reported over 50 fatalities resulting from the air strikes, which occurred just two days after Israel assassinated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. In retaliation, Hezbollah launched multiple rockets into northern Israel.
In a separate incident, Israeli forces conducted significant air strikes on military targets linked to the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen. Hezbollah confirmed the deaths of key figures, including top military commander Ali Karaki and senior cleric Sheikh Nabil Qaouk, due to Israeli attacks.

Early Monday, another air strike targeted the Kola neighbourhood in central Beirut, resulting in the deaths of three members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). The group, part of the Palestine Liberation Organization, identified the deceased as military security chief Mohammad Abdel-Aal, military commander Imad Odeh, and fighter Abdel Rahman Abdel-Aal.
‘Residents fleeing Beirut and southern border areas’
Prime Minister Mikati noted that the wave of air strikes has meant many residents have had to flee from Beirut and southern border areas.
Additionally, Israel conducted air strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen, targeting power plants and a port in Ras Isa and Hudaydah. Footage from the scene captured a massive explosion at the port. Israel claims these strikes were a response to recent missile attacks from the Houthis and aimed at disrupting the transport of Iranian weapons.
The Houthis, a Shia group controlling significant territories in Yemen, condemned the strikes as “brutal aggression,” reporting four fatalities and 33 injuries, and vowed retaliation.
As tensions escalate, there are growing international concerns about a broader conflict in the Middle East. The United States has cautioned Israel against engaging in an all-out war with Hezbollah or Iran, warning that such a conflict could leave many Israelis unable to return to their homes in the northern region.
