Two sheriff’s deputies in Florida are recovering after being ‘seriously injured by a driver who deliberately collided with them at a high speed.
Video of the devastating ‘ambush-style’ attack on Thursday was released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
Authorities were called to a home in Brandon, a suburb 10 miles outside of Tampa, by a mother who said her son was undergoing a mental health crisis.
The woman told dispatchers that she was ‘in fear’ or her son, who was behaving ‘violently,’ the HCSO said.

Deputies arrived at the home around 7.45am on Thursday morning, where they found the son, later identified as 28-year-old Ralph Bouzy.
‘Deputies tried to make contact with him, expressing they were there to help, but Bouzy refused to speak to them and drove away,’ the HCSO said.
Just 15 minutes later, Bouzy returned to the home and accelerated in the direction of the deputies, who were standing outside their patrol car.
One deputy managed to leap out of the way of the oncoming car, which smashed into the patrol car at a high speed. Two officers were struck in the terrifying crash.
