Sofia Vergara terrified fans after posting a picture of the Modern Family reunion with a key cast member missing – and seemingly ‘dead’.
The popular US sitcom cast reunited for a fun-filled evening with almost everyone present, including Sarah Hyland, Ed O’Neil, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Ariel Winter.
Everyone snuggled up for snaps together in the ‘First Modern Family reunion’ – except Ty Burrell, better known as dad Phil Dunphy.
Sofia, who played Gloria, shared a picture with the on screen family assembled together in black, holding a framed picture of Ty, 56, giving fans a near heart attack.
‘Holding the pic of Phil like he’s deceased,’ read one comment while another said: ‘Bruh i thought Phil died, i almost had a mini heart attack.’
To reassure everyone, Ty is thought to be absolutely fine just unable to attend the big reunion despite how Sofia’s post made things look.

‘Typical Phil, making us think the worse. He should have been the robot iPad thing if he couldn’t make it,’ wrote another surprised fan.
Someone else joked: ‘The floral arrangement in the middle doesn’t help either… and everyone was wearing black.’
In another post, Sofia shared a video in which the camera showed Ty’s picture on the mantlepiece as she shouted: ‘Ty we miss you’.
Jesse, who played Mitchell, seconded Sofia’s cries while on screen daughter Sarah added: ‘I love you dad!’
The video panned around the room, ending on a kiss from Eric Stonestreet who portrayed Mitchell’s husband Cam.

Other snaps posted by the Hot Pursuit star showed her cosying up to on-screen husband and patriarch Ed O’Neil, while an unrecognisable Manny (Rico Rodriguez) beamed.
Mini reunions have happened over the years, including for Sarah and Adam Wells’ intimate wedding last year, but this is the first time so many of the cast have got together at once.
Sarah posed with her on screen sister Ariel, who is now sporting long peachy toned hair, having a sisterly catch up with drinks in hand.
Sofia also showed herself in fits of giggles with Sarah, Jesse, and his husband Justin Mikita, who he married in 2013 and has two children with.

Ty’s absence was a notable one as Phil was a fan favourite for his hilarious antics and attempts to be a cool dad for his three children; Haley (Sarah), Alex (Ariel), and Luke (Nolan Gould).
Viewers praised Modern Family for showcasing a diverse family, including a same-sex couple and blended step family, with a complex dynamic and impressive ensemble cast.
The show ran for 11 seasons, between 2009 and 2020, winning Emmys and even a Golden Globe, with dedicated viewers.
Aside from fearing for Ty’s life, fans have wondered if this is teasing a possible return of the show or a spin-off.
