Mirror Sport – Moves like swagger
The back page of the Mirror, like many back pages this morning, looks at England’s upcoming friendly against Belgium – where Ivan Toney is set to be given a starting position.
The paper reports England boss Gareth Southgate has urged Toney to ‘strut his stuff’ and earn himself a spot at the Euros – later this summer in Germany.Â
How England could line up for Belgium clash as 5 players face last Euro 2024 chance
England ramp up their preparations for Euro 2024 when they host Belgium on Tuesday.
Gareth Southgate’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat against five-time world champions Brazil on Saturday. The Three Lions were missing many first-team regulars, including Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka – and it showed as a second-half strike from 17-year-old forward Endrick secured the victory for the Selecao.
Anthony Gordon impressed on his Three Lions debut, but other fringe players failed to make their mark. Ollie Watkins, Conor Gallagher and Ben Chilwell struggled after being handed a chance by Southgate, while Jarrod Bowen and Lewis Dunk were among the players to come on.

Germany could close door to Jurgen Klopp appointment after talks held over new contract
The German Football Federation have revealed they hope to extend Julian Nagelsmann’s contract beyond the conclusion of Euro 2024.
The former Bayern Munich manager penned a short-team deal with the DFB to take charge of the national side in September of 2023. Having started life as Germany boss brightly, DFB president Bernd Neuendorf has suggested Nagelsmann could be rewarded with a new deal that shows more faith in his work and ties him to the federation for longer.
As a result, that could all but quash any hopes some fans may have had over Jurgen Klopp taking the reins of the national team after bidding farewell to Liverpool this summer. After nine years at the helm, Klopp has confirmed he’ll leave the Reds at the end of the current campaign.

Man Utd ‘could be barred’ from Europe next season due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe takeover
Manchester United could be banned from playing in Europe next season following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s purchase of a minority stake in the club, according to reports.
Ratcliffe also owns French side OGC Nice, who currently sit fifth in Ligue 1, and UEFA’s rules on multi-club ownership mean they would not be allowed to compete in the same competition.
UEFA have changed their rules slightly, allowing clubs under common ownership to compete in different European competitions as of next season, but the ban on those teams playing in the same tournament remains.
“It is correct that Manchester United and Nice cannot play in the same competition,” a UEFA insider is quoted as telling the Sun. “They could play in different competitions, as there is no ‘feeding’ between competitions any more.”
