Brentford 1-3 Manchester City – Thrill Foden in London

The back page of the Daily Star leads on  yesterdays game which ended Brentford 1-3 Manchester City. Phil Foden scored a hattrick with the paper noting that the win has boosted City’s chances of claiming the title.

And this was the inescapable feeling once more as City recorded a ninth successive win in all competitions with a 3-1 win at Brentford, a victory achieved with much to spare despite trailing to Neal Maupay’s breakaway goal until the closing seconds of the first half.

City are now in second place, two points behind leaders Liverpool after their defeat at Arsenal on Sunday. One of the sub-plots of that result was that it put City’s Premier League destiny back in their own hands, which is how they like it.

    Phil Foden scored a hattrick

The newspaper says Phil has turned it around for Pep, Phil Foden rescued the Manchester club against a stubborn Brentford team. -It comes after Liverpool lost to Arsenal, meaning the race for the title is even tighter than before.

Some pundits think to this is now a three horse race to the finish line, but following Jurgen Klopp’s body language to the game, some believe Liverpool will fall away now.

The back page also leaves room to report on more Premier League action and gossip – including Liverpool boss Klopp saying the Reds’ have no more room for mistakes after their loss to Arsenal – with the Gunners and City hot on their heels.
