Michelle Yeoh will be reprising her beloved Star Trek role, Captain Philippa Georgiou, in an upcoming Paramount Plus movie.

Star Trek: Section 31 follows Emperor Philippa Georgiou as she ‘joins a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets and faces the sins of her past.’

Addressing her exciting return to hit sci-fi, the Avatar: The Way of Water actress, 60, said: ‘I’m beyond thrilled to return to my ‘Star Trek’ family and to the role I’ve loved for so long.

‘Section 31 has been near and dear to my heart since I began the journey of playing Philippa all the way back when this new golden age of ‘Star Trek’ launched.’

She continued: ‘To see her finally get her moment is a dream come true in a year that’s shown me the incredible power of never giving up on your dreams. We can’t wait to share what’s in store for you, and until then: live long and prosper (unless Emperor Georgiou decrees otherwise)!’

Fans were buzzing over the surprise announcement, with one excited viewer declaring: ‘Mother has returned.’

Fans weren’t totally sure Section 31 would see the light of day after it was teased back in 2018.

Speaking to Deadline’s Crew Call podcast, Discovery showrunner Alex Kurtzman offered an update on the spin-offs schedule.

‘Michelle has shattered ceilings, broken boundaries, and astonished us with her grace and gravitas for decades,’ he said.
