It’s common for actors to do some serious training in preparation for a role, but getting ready for Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves required something a little different from Michelle Rodriguez.
The American actress plays Holga Kilgore in the new adventure/action flick, starring alongside the likes of Chris Pine, Hugh Grant and Regé-Jean Page.
Michelle had to undergo a physical transformation to play barbarian Holga, and she wanted to make sure she looked the part, not just with her medieval costume.
In fact, the 44-year-old star grew out her armpit hair for three months before stepping foot on set.
As a result, she’s joked that she was constantly lifting her arms up on set to show off the results.
But, annoyingly, a lot of takes didn’t even make the final cut!

Speaking on The One Show on Friday (March 24), alongside co-stars Chris and Rége – she said she had a ‘blast’ gearing up for the role, which also required some serious bulking up.
‘It was so much fun,’ she began.
‘I gained 15Ibs of muscle, having to train for three months beforehand and then getting to Northern Ireland and having to keep that weight on for five months, five days a week weightlifting, the guy wakes you up before you go to work…’
Chris then interjected to remind her that she had to grow out her body hair to play the character.
‘Armpit hair!’, she exclaimed.

‘I grew three months worth of armpit hair,’ she said with a very smug expression, as Chris said he was ‘very, very proud’ of her.
‘She used to reach for things on top shelves,’ Bridgerton star Regé joked, implying Michelle was keen to show off the product of her hard work.
‘I lifted my arms a lot more times than directors decided to let in the movie,’ she added.
‘I’ve gotta say, I’m a little offended that they cut out all of my arm lifting! I would point to things…’

As host Alex Jones said she understood Michelle’s disappointment ‘after all that effort’, Michelle explained that the armpit hair did ‘make a debut’ when she lifts off her helmet.
‘You get both bushes in your face!’, she exclaimed, leaving her fellow actors in fits of laughter.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves is directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.
