    MasterChef Australia judge Jock Zonfrillo’s death not being treated as suspicious police confirm

    Police have confirmed that Jock Zonfrillo’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

    The MasterChef Australia judge died on Sunday in Melbourne at the age of 46.

    In a statement shared with Metro.co.uk, Victoria Police added that a coroner’s report is currently being prepared.

    A police spokesperson said: ‘Police will prepare a report for the coroner following the death of a man in Carlton.

    ‘Police attended an address for a welfare check and located a man deceased about 2am on 1 May.

    ‘The 46-year-old man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.’

    Zonfrillo’s death was announced by his family on Monday, who said in a statement: ‘With completely shattered hearts and without knowing how we can possibly move through life without him, we are devastated to share that Jock passed away yesterday.’

    They added: ‘So many words can describe him, so many stories can be told, but at this time we’re too overwhelmed to put them into words.

    ‘For those who crossed his path, became his mate, or were lucky enough to be his family, keep this proud Scot in your hearts when you have your next whisky.’

    Soon after the news broke, MasterChef Australia confirmed it would not air this week.

    A spokesperson for the channel tweeted: ‘Network 10 and Endemol Shine Australia are deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of Jock Zonfrillo, a beloved member of the MasterChef Australia family.

    ‘Jock passed away in Melbourne yesterday. MasterChef Australia will not air this week.’

    Former MasterChef contestants Minoli De Silva, Laura Sharrad and Reynold Poernomo were among the first to pay tribute.
