Mason Greenwood has appeared in the dock charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault.
The 21-year-old Manchester United footballer was flanked by two officers as he entered Manchester Magistrates’ Court wearing a grey sweatshirt and jogging bottoms.
He spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address, before the court heard the details of the charges against him.
Proceedings were then adjourned until later today by District Judge Mark Hadfield, where a decision on his bail arrangements will be decided.
Greenwood was first held in January over allegations relating to a young woman after images and videos were posted online.
He had been on bail since then, but was arrested in the Trafford area on Saturday for an alleged breach of conditions.
A few hours later the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it had authorised the charges against Greenwood.

The attempted rape is alleged to have taken place in October 2021.
A charge of controlling and coercive behaviour relates to a period between November 2018 and October this year, while the assault occasioning actual bodily harm is from December 2021.
Janet Potter, deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS North West, said specialist rape prosecutors from their complex casework unit authorised the charges after reviewing evidence from Greater Manchester Police.

Within hours of the allegations surfacing online, the forward – who has made one appearance for England – was suspended from playing and training with his team.
Nike suspended and later terminated its sponsorship deal with Greenwood, while Electronic Arts removed him from active squads on Fifa 22.
