Married At First Sight UK star April Banbury has reflected on her emotional experience taking part in the dating show.

The former Miss Great Britain appears in the current series of the E4 programme, in which she is ‘married’ to father-of-four George Roberts.

Viewers have watched their rocky journey over the past several weeks, including their arguments over George’s trust issues and April’s fiery rows with fellow contestant Thomas Hartley.

In a social media post to mark World Mental Health Day, April told her followers: ‘I wanted to share a little message about my time on MAFS.

‘I cried a lot on and off camera. I was faced with situations I simply wasn’t used to. In life I surround myself with kind hearts, positive vibes and independence 🤍

‘So for me to be so emotional so much was hard to watch. It’s not me.’

April added that it sometimes felt as though she was ‘losing myself’ but gave a special shoutout to Emma Pringle on the welfare team, who helped guide her through her emotional turmoil during the tough experiment.

‘Emma you will be a friend forever,’ she wrote in the Instagram post.

Fans have speculated whether the couple have already split following the end of the experiment (Picture: Channel 4)

‘So to anyone who is suffering with hidden emotions don’t be afraid to show them. Let’s start normalising these emotions and healing from them together,’ April concluded.

The model included a photo of herself with some of her MAFS co-stars, the welfare team and expert Mel Schilling, but George was not part of the picture.

The fate of April and George’s ‘marriage’ won’t be revealed until the final episode but fans have speculated whether the couple have already split after leaving the experiment.

Last week, it was reported that George had been arrested on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour just days after Channel 4 defended casting him after three of his exes reportedly raised concerns about him.

Regarding the arrest in Worcestershire, it was said that Roberts denied any wrongdoing and was bailed by Scotland Yard with investigations still ongoing.

Married At First Sight UK returns tonight at 9pm on E4.
