Marcus Rashford makes shock U-turn on Man Utd future amid Ruben Amorim exile

Marcus Rashford reportedly still wants to play for Manchester United – just a month after he said he was ready to leave his boyhood club.

After being dropped from the squad for December’s Manchester derby, Rashford dropped a transfer bombshell by publicly announcing: ‘I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.’

He has not played for United since and has been left out of the matchday squad for eight of the last nine games, with the England international not in Ruben Amorim’s plans anymore.

It was expected that he will leave Old Trafford this January, with Borussia Dortmund leading the race to sign him on loan, with many clubs around the world interested in his services.

However, multiple sources including The Telegraph are reporting that Rashford’s United career may not be over yet, as the 27-year-old is ‘ready and willing’ to play if Amorim calls on him.

It is said that the forward has no issue with the United head coach and has even been doing extra training in order to prove his worth to the former Sporting boss.

This includes going to Carrington on Sunday while his teammates were at Old Trafford preparing to face Brighton in the Premier League – a game they lost 3-1.

It is also been noted that while Rashford did say he wanted a new challenge, he has never offically asked to leave the club he has spent his entire career at.

As a result, he could make a sensational return to the team on Thursday when United host Rangers in a Europa League ‘Battle of Britain’.

This seemingly sudden change of heart comes amid rumours the Red Devils are struggling to offload Rashford as while there is loads of interest, his £325,000-a-week wages are proving a major stumbling block in negotiations.

Speaking after the Brighton game, Amorim was asked about Rashford’s availability, especially in the light of United’s awful form, but suggested that he had no interest in using the player.

He said: ‘Guys, like you said it’s his choice. In the last games that we lost, Rashford was not here. So I don’t want to put this moment on Rashford.

‘Rashford is out at this moment because he’s not playing. No matter what, I’m not going to put [in] a player that I don’t believe is the best for the team.’
