A body was found in a quiet oceanfront village that has recently been called ‘the new Hamptons’.

The body of a man was found around 5.30am on Saturday in East Atlantic Beach, a hamlet in Long Island, New York.

Nassau County police responded to a 911 call for an unresponsive man near the intersection of Beech Street and Buffalo Avenue.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police Medic.

Police received a 911 report of an unresponsive man on the street

He has not been identified and his cause of death and manner of death have not been released, however, local resident suspects that this seems like murder.

‘They were trying to figure out what exactly what happened and where he came from, what took place last night,’ resident  Brandon Rosenblatt told News 12 Long Island.

‘It’s a very quiet neighborhood. It’s the first time anything like this ever happened here.’

An investigation into the death was ongoing as of Monday.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Atlantic Beach is located about 22 miles east of downtown Manhattan and about an hour travel time away. Wall Street ‘finance bros’ have eyed the hamlet as a closer alternative to the Hamptons, which are about 90 miles east of Manhattan, the New York Post reported in mid-July.

Thought Atlantic Beach has a population of less than 1,800 people, it has 10 beach clubs on the waterfront that draw Manhattanites for weekend summer getaways. The hamlet has two bars, three restaurants, three delis and a new café and boutique.

The priciest home up for sale in Atlantic Beach was listed last month for $11.5million, the highest amount yet. Only 15 properties were on the market at the time.

The body was found just a few weeks after police arrested Nassau County resident Rex Heuermann and charged him with killing three women in the Gilgo Beach murders on the South Shore of Long Island.
