Sir Jim Ratcliffe hopes his £1.3bn stake in Manchester United will be completed in early February after admitting the move is the most ‘exciting’ of his career.
The 71-year-old was at Old Trafford on Sunday to attend his first game since his investment was announced.
Ratcliffe’s deal, which is awaiting ratification, could go through in early February.
But Ratcliffe is the figurehead of the investment, and he admits he’s been looking at investing in the club for many years.

‘This is the first match for me since we got here. I am very excited to be here. Big match. We normally do well against Spurs,’ said Ratcliffe.
Asked if the move is the most exciting in his career, Ratcliffe said it was.
‘That’s right. Yes. I’ve done some exciting things, but there’s no doubt,’ he said.
