Manchester United star Christian Eriksen has responded to a dig from FC Copenhagen boss Jacob Neestrup ahead of their Champions League clash.

The Red Devils travel to the Parken Stadium on Wednesday looking to make it back-to-back wins following Saturday’s top-flight victory against Fulham.

Ahead of the fixture, Copenhagen manager Neestrup has claimed that his home ground is ‘100 times as intense’ as Old Trafford.

‘What can they expect? I can say with all the respect, I felt when I stepped into Old Trafford, I felt the historical atmosphere,’ Neestrup said on Tuesday.

‘But you can’t compare Old Trafford with Parken, because the intensity is times 100 in terms of what we played in two weeks ago. This is a standard, for me, way above Premier League, to be honest.’

Eriksen, who has played at the Parken Stadium with the Denmark national team, has laughed off Neestrup’s comments.

‘I’ve never played against Copenhagen there, I’ve only been there with the national team,’ Eriksen said.

‘I do know that the atmosphere with the national team is very special, so I do expect a special atmosphere.

‘But I don’t know if it’s 100 times more theatrical than Old Trafford (laughter) – I’m not sure about that.’

Quizzed about Copenhagen players who have claimed that they are the favourites for Wednesday’s match, and if he agreed, Eriksen added: ‘No, it’s their opinion, and obviously we have our opinion.

‘I’m sure there will be some fun games on the pitch. But in the end, it’s who wins.

‘If they feel like they are favourites, they’re entitled to, but I’m sure we’ll go into the game with confidence and aiming to win as well.’

United beat Copenhagen 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford on October 24 with Harry Maguire scoring the winner.
