A man who allegedly wore dark clothing and covered his face to roll on the floor and scare villagers has been found.
Two people claim he terrified them in the early hours of Tuesday morning while they were walking in Cleeve, North Somerset, before he walked off.
The suspect, in his 30s, was quickly arrested on suspicion of causing public nuisance, after helicopters and police dogs were deployed to track him down.
Some believe the man is the same person who dressed in a gimp suit to terrify people in the nearby village of Claverham in 2019 and 2021.
A woman in her 20s previously said a man in a black latex suit ran up to her and started touching his groin the summer before last.
The victim, who took the now-viral photograph of her attacker, said she stood her ground, screamed loudly and forced him to run away.
The neighbourhood policing team’s Lee Kerslake said: ‘These incidents have caused concern to the local community and we are determined to identify the individual or individuals responsible and stop them.
‘We continue to keep an open mind about the intentions of the man on Millier Road and whether the incident is linked to any others.’
The suspect arrested on Tuesday has been released on bail and has been ordered to stay at home between 9pm and 6am.
He will also have to present to a police officer if it is requested.
The force has stepped up its presence in the area to reassure the community.
