A man subjected three vulnerable sisters to months of horrific sexual abuse and repeatedly raped them in their own home.

Jackson Katjombe, 37, attacked each of the siblings multiple times on the farm where they lived in the Namibian town of Otjimbingwe, a court heard.

One victim was just eight years old while another was a 25-year-old disabled woman with the mental capacity of a child.

She cannot walk or use her arms and relies on crawling, a wheelchair and her siblings to move around.

The third victim, aged 19 at the time, ‘displayed a slight impairment’ but ‘appeared to be the more emotionally developed one’, court documents said.

Katjombe would often target the sisters when their aunt had to travel to the capital city Windhoek, where their HIV-positive mum was in hospital, The Namibian reported.

Their aunt would rely on neighbours and other relatives to take care of the siblings while she was in the capital, but they were sometimes left alone.

Katjombe, who lived nearby, was found guilty of three counts of rape and two counts of common assault in June.

He was jailed for 35 years on Friday, after Windhoek High Court heard how he left his victims utterly traumatised and suffering from nightmares.

Katjombe, a dad of three who tried to deny the charges against him, sometimes raped his victims in front of each other.

During one attack, he pressed a pillow onto the 19-year-old’s face before she screamed and asked her youngest sister to bite Katjombe.

At just eight years old, the little girl tried to come to her sibling’s rescue and dug her teeth into Katjombe’s back.

This allowed the 19-year-old to get loose and run to their uncle, but Katjombe used this time to flee from their house.

The disabled 25-year-old told the court how, on one occasion, she was playing with a doll before Katjombe raped her.

Katjombe’s abominable actions came to light after family members started noticing the sisters’ behaviour changing.

They were tearful, would have angry outbursts and stopped eating at times – the eight-year-old girl would not allow anyone to bathe her.

The sisters said Katjombe threatened to kill them if they told anyone about the ordeal but they eventually opened up about what was happening to them.

Katjombe was acquitted of one count of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm and three counts of assault by threatening.
