Madrid requests not to give privileged treatment to Catalonia

The municipality of Madrid requests not to give privileged treatment to Catalonia. For those who watch la Liga, this is not about Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment of the Community of Madrid, Rocío Albert, has once again asked the Government of Spain for a multilateral negotiation for regional financing and “not to give privileged treatment to Catalonia.”

Spanish Tourism sector grows by 17% to 184 million in 2023

Madrid requests not to give privileged treatment to Catalonia

“We have been asking all the autonomous communities for a multilateral negotiation in the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council, with new financing that implies that there are sufficient resources so that the regions can provide the public services that correspond to them,” he stressed before the media from San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

    Regional financing is a priority

In line, the counselor has called for a “much simpler fund in which everyone is included and in which Catalonia is not given privileged treatment.” Specifically, he has requested that “everyone set the same rules, where solidarity and interterritorial equity continue to prevail, which is something that is included in the Constitution and the Organic Law of Autonomous Financing.”

Albert has also asked that “the bottom of competitiveness be stopped” because “since the Competitiveness Fund is not fully paid to the Community of Madrid, there is a lack of “more than 9,000 million euros, which would mean better public services for all the people of Madrid“.

    Against Sánchez’s “tax increase”

On the other hand, the Madrid councilor regretted that “compared to the 30 tax cuts in the Community of Madrid, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has already accumulated 93 tax increases.” In this sense, he stressed that the tax increase “is going to harm workers.”

“One part is directed at labor costs, which means that people are more reluctant to work, another at the banks, which will then have an impact on taxpayers or the customer, another at electricity companies and another at the increase in products We are going to suffer it in the shopping basket.

It is frankly worrying that they do not let taxes rise and that public spending is not contained,” he criticised.
