Love Island contestant Ella Thomas sent the Spanish villa into a spiral when she returned to the main house with a new love interest on Wednesday night.

Drama erupted around the fire pit after the islanders were instructed to re-couple following a few days spent apart during Casa Amour.

Tensions were raised after numerous couples chose to return to the villa with new partners but there was one moment that left everyone reeling.

Host Maya Jama called on Tyrique Hyde, 24, to make his decision about whether he wanted to stick with his former partner Ella or choose one of the new girls.

Claiming he was excited to remain coupled up with his original girl, the islander was shocked and distraught to watch her walk in with another man.

Ella had her arm wrapped around footballer Ouzy See and was equally as surprised to see Ty standing on the podium alone.

When questioned about how she was feeling by Maya, Ella sheepishly answered that she ‘thought he might miss the game’, following which Ty viciously responded that his former partner was ‘never mine, just my turn’.

Announcing they were done, Ella admitted she ‘never wanted [them] to be done’ and pleaded with Ty, reminding him she gave him space to explore other options in the past.

Not having any of it he responded: ‘I’m telling you it’s done. Wish you all the best bro have a blast’.

He took himself away to a quiet corner and was joined by Kady McDermott – who also found herself single after Zachariah Nobel re-coupled with Molly Marsh.

‘I’m a f***ing idiot’, he expressed to the veteran islander who tried to help him calm down after the shocking moment.

Ty explained that he had never let anyone in before as he was too frightened to get his feelings hurt and emphasised his deep care for Ella: ‘I don’t want her because she scares me’.

Despite reassuring Ty, Kady had dramas of her own on the tense evening as she was left standing on her own after her partner Zach chose to switch and rekindle things with his old flame Molly.

The contestant – who first entered the show during series two – offered Molly a curt ‘welcome back’ as she appeared surprised to see the dumped blonde sitting in the villa once more.
