Love Island star Adam Collard has confirmed his breakup with Paige Thorne but hailed his ex as a ‘great girl’.
The 26-year-old fitness trainer stunned fellow islanders and viewers when he returned as bombshell over summer, but he soon found love with paramedic Paige, 24, before they narrowly missed out on a place in the final.
Last week, reports emerged that they had gone their separate ways with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu confirming the split, and now Adam himself has addressed the situation.
‘We’re not together,’ he told The Sun at the National Television Awards on Sunday evening. ‘Things happen. But I mean she is a great girl.’
Rumours of their split came after a video of him putting his arm around a woman in McDonald’s went viral, while the woman in the footage later insisted they were just chatting and Adam did ‘literally nothing wrong’.
The reality star’s spokesperson also strenuously denied any allegations of foul play, explaining in a statement that the person was a fan who wanted a picture.

They added: ‘Adam and Paige are currently dating and Adam only has eyes for her.’
The pair left as a couple having met in the villa, and they made their romance official after leaving the show.
But doubt started to be cast on their relationship after the viral video, with the couple reportedly taking a break shortly after as a source claimed Paige felt ‘humiliated’ although ‘believed he didn’t do anything’.

Earlier this month, Paige removed all traces of Adam from her Instagram account, fuelling speculation the 24-year-old had called it quits.
A source had told Metro.co.uk: ‘Adam is trying to stay positive but has faced a lot of online abuse over the past couple of weeks, which he’s understandably found tough… He’s got a lot on with fitness work so is going to focus his time on that for now as a welcome distraction.’
Meanwhile, Paige – who is yet to comment publicly on the split – recently updated her followers that she has resumed her position as a paramedic.
The TV personality shared a video of her putting her uniform back on for the first time, admitting she was ‘nervous’ after having so much time away, but also ‘super excited’.
She said on her Instagram Story: ‘So, as you can see I’m back in my uniform, I’m about to be doing my first shift back. A little part of me is nervous because it’s been so long since I’ve been off, but more than anything, I’m super excited to be back, back with my team, back doing what I absolutely love, what I’m passionate about, what I’m comfortable with, I just know it’s gonna be a great shift.’
Love Island is available to stream in full on ITV Hub.
