Love Island star Antigoni Buxton has confirmed she’s in talks to represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The 26-year-old reality star – who has Greek/Cypriot heritage – revealed she has submitted three different songs to the country’s main broadcaster and has been to Athens to perform her material.

She’s keen to represent the country at the 2023 event in Liverpool, and she is awaiting their decision.

She told the MailOnline: ‘I’m submitting three songs but one in particular is my favourite. It’s an up-tempo, powerful, fiery and romantic track with both Greek and English lyrics.

‘Combining modern sounds and Hip-hop production with Greek traditional sounds and melodies is my style.’

Meanwhile, she said performing in the UK would make the whole experience even more special.

‘I’m so proud of my Greek roots and my goal as a musician is to share Greek sounds and culture with the world,’ she added.

‘As the Eurovision is being held in the UK where I live, it would be an honour to be able to use my platform here to shine a light on the country I’m representing.’

She appeared on Love Island over the summer as a bombshell arrival, but has a background in music have been previously signed to Island Records.

She later set up her own independent label Sirena records, and dropped her single Hit List back in May.

On Friday, Graham Norton revealed Liverpool would be hosting Eurovision, with the event set to take place in the Northern city and the final coming to the BBC on May 13 next year.

The final two cities battling it out were revealed last month following a seven-strong shortlist, which also included Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield and Manchester.

Ukrainian entry Kalush Orchestra triumphed at the 2022 competition in Turin, Italy, but the European Broadcasting Union, which produces the annual event, decided the show cannot be safely held in the country following Russia’s invasion.

It was later decided that the UK would host the 67th Eurovision Song Contest as Sam Ryder came second in the competition, making it the ninth time the country has welcomed the iconic event.
