Former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins is said to have been stabbed over inmate guitar lessons.
The 46-year-old paedophile rock star was taken to hospital after being attacked and ‘held hostage’ at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire over the weekend.
Watkins was jailed for 29 years in December 2013 with a further six years on licence after admitting a string of sex offences – including the attempted rape of a fan’s baby.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police said they were notified by prison staff of an assault on a prisoner on the afternoon of Saturday, August 5.
A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire force said: ‘He was taken to hospital where his injuries are not understood to be life-threatening.’

It’s been claimed Watkins was held hostage and beaten by other inmates over guitar lessons, with a source telling the Sun: ‘[Watkins] was known to have hangers-on who asked him about music and being a rock star.
‘He even gave some of them guitar lessons — which made other inmates in there angry so they wanted revenge.’
They added: ‘He is also high-profile and a lot of the lads in there think they will get a move to another jail if they attack someone well-known.’
Meanwhile, Watkins’ ex Jo Mjadzelics – who first told police about the disgraced star’s vile behaviour – said she was surprised it had taken so long for such an attack to occur.

She told the Mirror: ‘My only reaction is simply that I cannot believe it took them so long, particularly in Wakefield Prison.’
Police have confirmed that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Watkins was first arrested following the execution of a drugs warrant at his Pontypridd home on September 21, 2012, when a large number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices were seized.
Analysis of the equipment uncovered Watkins’ depraved behaviour.
He eventually admitted conspiring to rape a child, three counts of sexual assault involving children, seven involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.

In sentencing in 2013, Mr Justice Royce told Watkins: ‘Those who have appeared in these courts over many years see a large number of horrific cases. This case, however, breaks new ground.
‘I am satisfied that you are a deeply corrupting influence, you are highly manipulative, you are a sexual predator, you are dangerous.
‘The public and, in particular, young females need protection from you.’
Two accomplices known only as Woman A and Woman B were jailed for 14 years and 16 years respectively
Watkins had previously been the frontman of rock band Lostprophets, which found major success in the alternative scene before his crimes were uncovered, with the band having sold over 3.5 million albums worldwide.
