Plenty of viewers have thoughts on Hugh Grant and Ashley Graham’s awkward Oscars encounter, Lorraine Kelly included (Picture: ITV/ABC)
Lorraine Kelly has shared her thoughts on Hugh Grant’s majorly awkward red carpet interview at last night’s Oscars.
The Notting Hill star was stopped for a chat by model Ashley Graham, who was interviewing attendees for ABC, and seemed totally disinterested in the runway star’s questions.
Not only did the interaction leave viewers ‘wincing’, but now the mighty Lorraine has waded into the debate, and she doesn’t appear to approve of 62-year-old Hugh’s behaviour.
‘It’s the most awkward Oscars moment since slap-gate. ABC’s Ashley Graham was interviewing Hugh Grant before the awards [and] let’s just say that he kept his answers quite curt and short.’
Veteran presenter Lorraine, 63, added: ‘I know he’s been asked those questions a million times, but you just have to smile and get on with it.’
After watching the interview, many social media users also expressed sympathy for Ashley, 34.

Stopping Hugh, Ashley had enthusiastically asked him: ‘What was it like to be in Glass Onion? How fun is it to shoot something like that?’
‘Well I’m barely in it, I was in it for about three seconds,’ Hugh bluntly replied.
Trying her hardest to push through, Ashley then asked the British star: ‘What are you wearing?
‘My suit,’ Hugh said in return.
At one point, Hugh even appeared to roll his eyes, which led viewers to praise Ashley’s professionalism, with one person tweeting: ‘Why was Hugh grant so rude?? Shout out to Ashley for holding up the conversation. / getting through that.’
Another social media user added: ‘Do you think Hugh Grant know his rude red carpet interview went viral yet.’

‘Why are people so keen on defending Hugh Grant in that Ashley Graham interview? He was rude and at the very least difficult. It’s the Oscars. Play along or move on. He saw she was struggling and went for the jugular — totally unnecessary,’ someone else pointed out.
Another said: ‘Ok, Hugh Grant be nice to Ashley Grant, he’s giving her nothing, I don’t like that, he’s being shady & making her work way too hard.’
It’s not the first time Hugh’s behaviour has made headlines recently.
He recently admitted he struggled to control his temper while filming the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie.
The Gentleman actor confessed he had a ‘couple of tantrums’ while on set and now regrets his fiery outburst.

He told the Daily Mail: ‘I lost my temper with a woman in my eyeline on day one. I assumed she was some executive from the studio who should have known better.
‘Then it turns out that she’s an extremely nice local woman who was the chaperone of the young girl. Terrible. A lot of groveling.’
